The challenge
Where things stood
A growing manufacturer had reached the point where ad hoc health and safety was no longer enough. They had no in-house safety resource, their paperwork had fallen behind and they needed to satisfy clients and insurers that they had competent person arrangements in place. Hiring a full-time safety manager was more than the business needed or could justify.
What we did
Our approach
We became their appointed competent person under Regulation 7 and put them on a predictable monthly retainer. We brought their risk assessments, policies and training records up to date, then kept them current. They got a named consultant who knows their business, on call for the day to day questions and on site when the work needed eyes on it.
This gave them the substance of an in-house safety department without the overhead and a certificate to show clients and insurers that competent person arrangements were in place.
The outcome
What it changed
The client passed an ISO audit and pre-qualification, won a large contract that required evidenced safety arrangements and now has a current, defensible safety management system for a fixed monthly cost.
